First up, I think the email issue has been resolved, so all emails should be coming through good now – Thanks for your patience!

Today is installment numero dos (that’d be 2) of my favorite things.  As wedding season draws near, I hope that some of these next few “favorite things” posts will be helpful for my brides!

Brideface is not only the “crem de la crem” of Cincinnati make-up artistry, but they also have a super sweet blog.  I am most definitely not a make-up guru, so I love the tidbits of information & knowledge about different products, application, etc that Nancy, Brideface’s owner, shares on their blog.

From a photography standpoint, having your makeup done professionally for your wedding day is SO VERY IMPORTANT!  I can’t stress that enough.  First, it’s totally relaxing and super fun.  Second, professional artists like the crew at Brideface know how to make you look your very best from a photography standpoint.  Leave it to the pros & treat yourself… I promise you’ll be glad you did!   PS, it’s extra fun to do your “trial run” the same day as your engagement session!  Here’s a shot of the super gorgeous Tricia, who had her make-up trial done the day of her engagement session by Brideface.  It was PERFECT.

Stay tuned for my favorite things Vol. 3!

Apparently my email is not working… If you have emailed amanda@donahophotography.com or attempted to send an inquiry through my website within the last few days, please resend the information to: adonaho@hotmail.com

So sorry for the inconvenience!  Hopefully this will be worked out quickly!!

I’m watching Lost as I write this post, which is appropriate because it is one of my favorite things.  However, this blog post won’t be about my tv show obsessions.  I have decided to share a few cool vendors and websites/blogs with you over the next few weeks as a fun new feature to my blog.

Let’s dive right in.  Tonight, I’ll be featuring Colette Paperie

I have a love for things unique, handmade, and creative.  Colette boasts some beautiful handmade paper items that I just LOVE.  Here’s an example of a baby announcement (with a photo I’ve taken on it to boot!).  Keli (the owner & designer) is awesome in working with clients to do custom orders… I know this from experience!  I love this annoucement, and could also see these as some awesome Save the Date cards!

One other thing I love about Colette is their blog… I get overwhelmed looking through Etsy sometimes, but Keli seems to find every Etsy seller that I could possibly love & sticks them all in one convenient place for me!  Click HERE to check out the Colette blog & HERE to visit their website!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

February 14, 2010

While Valentine’s Day can easily become just another day to spend money on things we really don’t need, all in the name of guilt, it can also be a great opportunity to reflect on the love(s) of your life.  There are the V-day haters who say that Valentine’s Day should be EVERY day & not just once a year, but I am logical about this (which I rarely am).  For me, life is busy.  Dishes pile up.  Laundry needs done.  The tire is flat.  The toddler spilled his juice.  The dog next door won’t stop barking all night long.  Dinners are rushed.  Bedtime comes too quick.  So for me, having the excuse to get a babysitter, relax together, enjoy conversation, take our time, listen to good music, eat good food (that I didn’t cook…) can’t come every day of the year.  When it does come, it’s lovely.  …and Valentine’s Day is a great excuse to do that :)

Of course, the sweets are nice to have too :)

Britni & Petey, who are well seasoned in being in front of my lens, graciously drove down from Dayton a few weeks ago to be “models” in another mock session with my interns. While I’m calling this a “Just Because” session, it could easily have been an Anniversary Session. Britni & Petey tied the knot January 3rd of 2009. Between their wedding, a boudoir session, a maternity session & now an anniversary session, I’d say these 2 are about as comfortable with me as it comes :)

Here’s my slightly 70’s feel for their fun (cold!) session…
